Not so long ago, TV 16:9 marked a revolution for film buffs. There was talk then of true home theater and several television programs have adapted to this format.
Now, the real lovers of cinema will enjoy a full broadcast format similar to that available in rooms, as Philips is launching a much larger television, which is the ration of 21:9. With 16:9, fans film could watch some movies in their original format, ie without the black bands top and bottom of the screen.
However, the majority of Cinemascope formats are wider than 16:9. The image had to be cut slightly to the right and left to avoid gangs. In the cropping of the way, you
lost almost a quarter of the table.
Philips hopes to fix the problem with his "21:9 LCD TV Cinema", which should be able to satisfy the most manic film buffs. The only problem is that this new television will not be perfectly suited to traditional television, and seems therefore restricted to those Haarsträubend at the sight of black, or who can afford a TV for movies and another for regular broadcasts.
In a diagonal of 56 inches, the new gear from Philips will have the Ambilight technology and should be published in spring 2009.
